This was excellent. It felt so close to home. And like something I'd write if I sat down and wrote it. She had so many experiences that I was like yes this is me. And it was an entertaining read. It probably would have been a 5 star read but the Buddhist sections dragged a bit for me (sorry). Otherwise I loved this and I'd read her again and again.

I finished this within 24 hours, what a great book. A must read.

possibly because i didn't like the narration but also because i was in the mood for a memoir not essays. so i need to adjust my expectations.

I was recommended this book by a mentor of mine and did not realize it was the same author who wrote another one of my favorites "I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter". I relate A LOT to Ericka in a lot of ways, but we also differ a lot. This made reading it so much more enjoyable because you had no idea what she was going to say next!

How am I just learning that Sánchez has published poetry? I enjoyed this candid memoir by the author best known for [b:I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter|29010395|I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter|Erika L.
