Hyperfocus by Chris Bailey, a productivity expert, is a book that this modern world direly needs. It is a well crafted piece and is worth a read.

Every time I read one of these books, I feel compelled to mention that I am tuning my brain to function more efficiently in Late Capitalism under staunch protest.

4.5 - I liked this really much! Half star off because I need to try out the things in it to see if they are actually working :) But had some really interesting ideas, we will see.

As a person with ADHD, I was mostly intrigued by how the author had taken the idea of ADHD hyperfocus and translated it into advice for neurotypical people.
It was also a fascinating insight into the neurotypical brain.
There are some useful tips in there. While he does acknowledge that hyperfocus is a neurodrivergent trait, the discussion feels reductive and is in a small footnote.
I hope no one comes away from this thinking hyperfocus (in the real neurodrivergent sense) is something that can be intentionally triggered.
That said, there are some focus and productivity tips I have taken away from this and hope to continue to use in the future.
