This is my first Katee Robert book and will not be my last!

This modern take to retell the story of Pysche and Eros was so different than other versions that I was on board from chapter one.

Eros is such a grumpy emo who is so stuck in this idea that he is undeserving of love, thanks to his childhood that it takes him a while to realize that regardless of what he's done, he can grow and be a better man.
Psyche is so different. Her characterization is definitely more modern and I love that she is described as a curvy, vivacious woman who has her own hangups thanks to society's views on beauty that have made her doubt herself and in turns Eros.

This has a little bit of different things I love; enemies to lovers,  marriage of convenience, and the unlikely hero not to mention it had fun dialogue, likeable characters and this can be read as a stand-alone even though it's no.2 of the series.

Going to go find the first book now šŸ˜šŸ˜

In the second book of the neon gods series, Eros, son of Aphrodite and Psyche, daughter of Demeter, will get into a marriage of convenience when Aphrodite orders Eros to bring Psycheā€™s heart out: He's a right hand killer and she becomes into his objective, he would rather not kill her since she was one of the few people who made an impression on him. Psyche, on the other hand, is a plus size woman and somewhat and influencerā€¦
She knows how the others critique, but behold that she shows a confidence that many female main character donā€™t show profoundly.
The first time they meet was when Psyche sees him bleeding during a party, and does not hesitate to tend him. But, like any other celebrities, they get caught by a paparazzi and their ā€œsecret relationshipā€ gets blasted all over the news outletā€¦ so in anger Aphrodite order Eros to kill Psyche. But again it took turn when he felt the need to protect her and suggested a marriage of convenience aka Fake Marriage trope.
Eros is always described as a ā€œferocious beastā€ or a heartless killer, but the author mostly showed Eros as an cold hearted but softy-only-for-his-woman-only hero. I would of liked to see him as the so-called beast he said oftenly. I so wish that we saw a more possessive side to these two.
PS: Eros is a soft boy and Psyche wears the pants in the relationship. (It probably runs in the family (Persephone & Hades))Z

"You're a gift, Psyche Dimitriou. A
fucking gift."

ā€œThe woman showed me kindness once, and then I essentially followed her home like a feral cat and forced her to marry me.ā€

TW: fat shaming; sexual content; toxic parent and child relationship; gun violence.

Electric Idol is the second in Robertā€™s Dark Olympus series and if you havenā€™t read Neon Gods yet I HIGHLY recommend it! It was one of my top books of the 2021.

In this book we meet Psyche and Eros. Psyche is sister to Persephone and one of the many daughters of Demeter. Eros is the cold, hard weapon of Aphrodite. When Aphrodite puts a hit out on Psyche, the only way to keep her safe is to marry Eros. What can go wrong?

I loved this book šŸ˜The pacing was perfect and the smut was top shelf. Iā€™ve come to realize a Katee Robert book is an instant read for me. I know Iā€™m not getting into it for much of the plot, but itā€™s still there to hold enough interest that I donā€™t feel like Iā€™m reading pure porn šŸ˜‚

I loved seeing the relationship develop between Psyche and Eros ā¤ļø Iā€™ve never been a huge fan of their story until now to be honest. But a fake marriage trope always gets me.

I also loved the plus size girl representation! So many books are focused on slim women or those with ā€œperfect curvesā€ when thatā€™s just not reality. Women with different bodies deserve love and romance too! We as a community can and should do better šŸ–¤
