I'm a fan of the Gabriel Allon books, even though they're different than my usual fare. In this book, Gabriel tries to keep a promise to a Russian who once helped him. Of course there are multiple kidnappings and murders by both the good guys and the bad guys. I'm not sure why I'm so fascinated by Gabriel, but I am.

Even more killing than the typical Allon novel and some pretty graphic torture scenes. This one wraps up the story line that started in Moscow rules. Will Allon finally retire from his work with the office and have a fresh start with Chiara? Reliable escapism as usual.

I normally enjoy Daniel Silva's work but this one fell short. It took way to long to get going and when it did I didn't find the story all the compelling at all. Seems like he needed to do a book and threw this one together and didn't have and ideas so he just continued from Moscow Rules.

If you happen to stumble upon this review and you are thinking about getting this for your first Daniel Silva book, don't get it you will be disappointed. Not to mention this is a sequel of sorts.

Just what I needed. JUSTICE. Blood Justice.

The story continues from the previous book, so I would definitely recommend reading the Moscow Rules first before reading this.

Really enjoyed reading this book. I like how the stories continue and also how the main character is dealt with a personal blow. Of course it all started when people didn't believe that the defector would redefect.

Good balance in terms of story line and also character development.

A good read.

This, the 9th entry in the fantastic Gabriel Allon series by Daniel Silva, is a direct sequel to the preceding novel, "Moscow Rules". The Russian oligarch who Gabriel beat in that earlier book is back and out for vengeance. This time, they mess with Gabriel's wife and things get ugly. This book is far more cold-blooded and bloody than others in the series. The characters and pacing are excellent, and I did not see the final twist coming at all. The Gabriel Allon series is one of the best in the entire spy genre, so I highly recommend it, but start from the beginning and read them all.
