This book was much more firmly memoir than his previous. He does not shy away from the bad parts. The eating disorder and the assault in particular were pretty grim reading. He also doesn’t try to paint himself in very flattering light. Like any other memoir, there isn’t a perfectly planned plot neatly tied up at the end, but it does follow some structure of his life post medicine with flashbacks, with it then left on a somewhat more hopeful note.
I had primarily chosen to read it as someone not 100% happy in medicine, and there weren’t any firm answers (can there be?) but it was food for thought.

Not quite as good as his previous book. Kay jumps back and forward between his life as a doctor and what happened after leaving the profession. Sometimes funny and sometimes heart wrenching. A nice follow up if you enjoyed his first book.

It did make me laugh, but it wasn’t really my cup of tea.
