A light-hearted speedy book with a reasonably predictable storyline, but not bad for it. I enjoyed it as a break after something chunkier

DID NOT FINISH

The magic-fueled beginning was intriguing. However, clichés quickly emerged; the reliance on them annoyed me. The poor girl on a scholarship at a fancy school in a secret relationship with a senator's son, Ingrid feels invisible, but one day, she'll make everyone see her! She'll rise to the top! Bwahaha! Her father is unfairly imprisoned. She's the smartest student (going by grades, I guess) and she sure would like some access to magic. Oh, yeah, there's magic.

Ingrid gets an internship on the senator's Presidential campaign and is appalled when asked to bring him tea. She has ideas! Oh, honey. Which more experienced person would you prefer make tea? In reality, she would have been told what her internship would entail. Ingrid insists that she's not like the wealthy (and entitled) students but that she will be one day. I found her impossible to root for, and didn't find her story enjoyable, so I stopped reading, at 36%.

I loved this book, the politic part is so interesting and brings suspense to it. I also loved the aro rep and the QPR, I thought it was very well written and I don’t see this kind of relationship often in books or depicted in such a good way so I really enjoyed it and found it relatable.
