Although it's a good book, I didn't love it like her others.
challenging dark emotional funny sad medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Character
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Complicated
Diverse cast of characters: Complicated
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

I wanted to love this book as much as Moriarty's others but the characters, while well-defined, were unlikeable and the story took a long time to build up to revelations that were somewhat predictable. If I hadn't read her others first and had such high expectations I may have liked it more.

A compulsively readable book; all the trademark Moriarty techniques of letting you know there's a secret but never quite revealing it. I love the way she writes; I feel I know and recognise her characters; I empathise with them, I'm involved with them, and I go on their narrative journey with them. If this is chick lit (and I've heard it referred to pejoratively as that), then may it set the benchmark for that genre. I loved it.

This story took me awhile to get into. Once I connected with the characters though, I was hooked. I loved how the BBQ stayed a secret for so long and how I got to create my own theories about what happened. I loved how all of the characters storylines intersected in unexpected ways. Very different and really made u think!

Much slower start and took me a while to get into but then totally hooked and couldn’t out it down and loved the dialogue like her other books

This book started out a little slow, but surprised me by the middle and I didn't want to put it down! Well done.
