I enjoyed the third book in this series. I really like Julie Johnson’s writing and she’s an Outlander fan, so basically, I’m a fan of hers for life!

I like the heroines, the relationships between all the characters, the relationships that take going through fire to be forged. Plus, laughing out loud is always a bonus.

4.5 ⭐️

I really enjoyed reading this book. Like the previous two books in the series, there is romance, epic banter (I'm pretty sure that Julie Johnson is banter royalty), and suspense.

"One Good Reason" follows Parker West, the third West sibling the reader has met, and Zoe Bloom, the mysterious rescuer from "Cross the Line," who Phoebe dubs Tink.

I love Parker, mainly for his witty comebacks and confidence. His quick retorts are clever and clearly show what a sharp mind he has. Some of my favorite moments from the book are the arguments between Parker and Zoe. My only issue with Parker is that he is the CEO of a company and never works. There is an attempt to explain why he isn't working, but I just didn't buy it. He is supposedly trying to cleanse his father's influences from the company, but he literally never works other than one scene in the book, and even then he sends everyone home early. There is a better more plausible explanation at the end of the book to explain how the company runs when he is absent, so I wish there would have been a more realistic explanation for his absence during the story. Other than this one tiny attribute, Parker was a great hero for our heroine. Zoe as the heroine is fantastic as well. She is feisty, smart, and isn't afraid to take on the "bad guys" in order to benefit humanity. I like each of these characters apart, but Zoe and Parker are so much better together because their chemistry is tangible, oozing off the pages whenever they are together. Not only is the sexual chemistry off the charts, they share intimate details with each other, finding solace in each other and escaping the tragedies and responsibilities that plague them. I often forgot that they only knew each for one week (this is also something that was bothersome, but not enough to change how much I loved the book). They are completely supportive of each other, and they create a partnership together, earning them the nicknames Peter and Tinker Bell.

In addition to the main characters, I adore the secondary characters of this story. Phoebe is outrageous and exudes excitement. I imagine it would be impossible to be unaffected by her if she were a real person. Seeing Knox again not only as this hard-nosed security guy but also as the loving boyfriend is sweet, and it reminds me how much I love the two of them together. The gaggle of girlfriends that befriend Zoe are best described as a whirlwind, and even though they are crazy together, I kind of wish I could join them for coffee and cupcakes. Also the introduction of Lucas, Colton, and other characters makes me hopeful and excited for more books in this series.

The plot was enthralling. The mystery of Lancaster's company, the connection to her parents, and the hacking all added up to a suspenseful romantic story, which is really one of my favorite sub-genres of romance.

With "One Good Reason," Julie Johnson has outdone herself again. I loved this one just as much as the previous two books, and she is quickly becoming one of my go-to authors when I am looking to escape a book slump. I can't wait to see what she has planned next.

5+++ stars for this Boston Love story!

I'm so glad we got Zoe's story. I knew from the moment we got a glimpse of her in Not You It's Me that I would love her. She's a badass, sassy, witty, take no crap kind of girl. And Zoe is just the type of girl to hold the attention of Parker West. Julie did an amazing job building the relationship between these two. Their banter, chemistry and romance was just awesome.

This book had me smiling, laughing, swooning and even at times yelling "NO! Don't do that!"

I'm ready for the next one Julie! :)

4⭐️ // A highly engaging, sass-filled romcom action story that I loved!

Zoe is a hacker—one of the best, really. After her parents were murdered and she grew up in foster care with only her best friend Luca for family, she’s closed off to relationships but she’s still full of compassion for those around her. She uses her hacking skills in a sort-of Robin Hood fashion, enacting justice for those who’ve been wronged. One night while on a job, she gets into a tight spot and is saved by none other than playboy Parker West. Only, he’s not so keen on letting her go. This the story of how one persistent prince breaks down the walls the princess built to keep herself safe from heartbreak.

This story is highly engaging and a perfect combination between a romcom and action. Zoe and Parker are a perfect match from the beginning. They’re bantering—while boldly lustful and at times a bit cheesy—gives romance readers what they love to see while the plot of uncovering secrets of a corrupt CEO and of breaking down Zoe’s emotional walls keeps readers hooked.

The pace of this story is actually pretty fast—the whole story takes place over the span of two weeks—and occasionally I was confused about the timeline (although that could have been because I was listening to the audiobook and may have missed some small details.) The engaging action and the fun characters are enough to distract you from any minor details about setting and place you might miss.

There are some top-tier characters in this story. Parker West himself is a proper book boyfriend readers will swoon after, but they’ll also swoon over Zoe’s best friend, Luca too. See exhibits A & B:

“Next time, call me. You can’t find your feet? I’ll be there to pull you up. You can’t walk? I’ll fucking carry you…You think the world is too ugly to exist in anymore? I’ll be here to remind you how f*cking beautiful it can be.” - Parker to Zoe

“Change is scary. I get that . But you’re not required to be the same person you were 10 years ago, 10 weeks ago, 10 days ago. Hell, you don’t even have to be the person you were 10 minutes ago. You’re free to be whoever the hell you want.” - Luca to Zoe

Some readers might also find Parker too arogant in the beginning. I certainly did during his and Zoe’s “meet cute.” But Zoe DOES knock him down a peg and honestly, the way he loves her is everything women want from their partners.

Phoebe and Nate also have a fun dynamic that makes me want to read their story.

The entire story is told from Zoe’s point of view, and for me, she’s the least likable (other than the bad guys, of course) character only because her tone is a little inconsistent. In the first half, she’s all “tough cool chick” but then she becomes whiny (and to be honest, this might have been the narrator’s interpretation of her voice. Zoe might have come across differently to me if I had read her story verses listening to it.)

She does have some great growth by the end of the story—although I’m starting to find the “tough-girl-built-emotional-walls-so-no-one-can-love-her-to-avoid-heartbreak “ trope a little cheesy, which is probably a sign I’ve read to much of them lately.

The found family aspect of this story though is heartwarming, even though Zoe fights against it. Who doesn’t want to be surrounded by people who will still actively love you even when you push them away?

This book did keep me hooked from start to finish and even when I was annoyed with Zoe, I still wanted to know what was happening. Although, some readers might find it a tad too long as there’s still about an hour left in the book after Zoe decides to fully accept Parker’s (as well as his family’s) love for her AND exposes the bad CEO’s misdeeds. But that last hour is still action-packed and engaging.

So, if you like sass in your romcoms, this book is for you. If you like top-tier side characters and found family vibes, this book is for you. It definitely has spice and neither Zoe or Parker are shy about talking about s*x, so if that’s your thing, you’ll be satisfied with this story. If that makes you nervous, don’t worry. There’s still plenty from this story you’ll enjoy.

it’s an easy read and definitely fill the gap. Would I read it again probably not but think of it more like watching the television show psych mystery without stress.
