Another great volume! Definitely a pick up from volume 4. I despperatelllyyyyy want to order the next few volumes in the series as i've been doing so far, but the expenses.... are adding up. April has turned into an insane book buying month from all this manga ive been reading. I'm actually spending my dollars on fruits basket and spyxfamily and it's becoming a bit much. i think i should jsut complete season 1 of the show and watch up until I've read (through s2 ep 7) and then put fruits basket on pause for a little while until it's more sensible for me to pick up the next volumes. There is always the library, but im not sure if they'll have it...

4.5 stars out of 5

I ordered the rest of the collector’s editions of Fruits Basket to resume my reread, starting with the fifth volume, which contains both volumes nine and ten. Things are getting great as Fruits Basket reaches the halfway point of the story. Let’s dive back in!

Volume 9: It’s summer vacation time! Well…almost. Yuki meets Kakeru Manabe, the vice president of the student council, and his half-sister, Machi Kuragi. Meanwhile, Uotani meets a mysterious man older than her, who she develops a crush on…who turns out to be a Sohma! We finally find out how Hanajima became friends with Tohru, and Kazuma shows up again to meet up with Kyo. A great volume of Fruits Basket indeed.

Volume 10: It’s vacation house time! Hiro starts to be more tolerable, thankfully. Mayu reunites with Hatori and Shigure, to interesting results. And near the end, Akito makes his way to the vacation house. While not as many things happen as in the previous volume, the great moments more than make up for that.

I’m excited to resume my Fruits Basket reread now that I have the rest of the manga! The reread will not have any more breaks (hopefully), so I can’t wait to continue now!

Man I loved this volume. I freaking love Akito - they are so bad but you can't help but feel sympathy for them - I can't wait for the end of their arc and what happens next. I also love Shigure in this - I am not a fan of pervy characters but man... I love that he is secretly planning something and I can't wait to see his plan unfold.
