What a whirlwind of a book! I just finished the ARC, and I will say it isn't like what Anna usually writes. There's still elements of the dark romance we are used to from her, but at the same time it's a lot less dark. I'm really happy and excited with her decision to try something new because she's a talented writer who can definitely write anything she puts her mind to!!
Whew. Marcus isn't as complex as her previous heroes but he's just as dominant, sexy and interesting. He's very focused on his work and his expectations of a perfect wife, but Emma completely blows those expectations out of water. While he does make mistakes, especially towards the end, I'm pleased that Emma doesn't let him get away with it scot-free. If you do something wrong it doesn't just magically go away because you apologise/make a genuine speech afterwards.
So while it ends on a cliffhanger, I'm pleased and satisfied with how the story has concluded so far. Emma has a backbone, and I applaud her for it. She's adorable with her cats (who are possessive as fuck and I love it) and the scenes (specifically one oral one) were really, really hot teehee. I admire Emma so much for making the effort to pay for her meals with Marcus (not just offer, but really pay) and I think she's a great heroine we can all root for.
Also, I do love redheaded heroines for some reason, and she is so, so cute. I'm excited to see how the sequel would pan out and I can't wait for Marcus's pursuit of her!! ;) Looking forward to a good grovel as well, hehe!
All in all, it's a commendable book for erotic romance fans and I would recommend it to anyone who sees this review! :)

I did enjoy this book, but my issue with the book is the H. He wasn't very likable in the beginning. I somewhat warmed up to him, but there was still that "I don't know if I like you" throughout the book. Overall, it was a quick read and the h was decent.
Nice romance, humour centred on cats with the a lot of on page interaction between the mc's. What's not to like? On to the next book.

I was so looking forward to this book that I'm really sad I didn't like it. While I am not a contemporary romance kind of girl (at all), I love this author's Krinar series. So that, plus the fact that this sounded so good with a female mc that reminded me of myself, I couldn't wait to check it out. Oh how disappointing.
I mostly liked Marcus. And I mostly liked Emma. But I hated them together and just could not for life of me understand each of their obsessions with the other. I also loathed Emma's best friend. That girl was a horrible influence in life and I hated her blase attitude toward relationships.
Emma is a twenty something living in NYC who's barely getting by. She apparently has only one friend and her grandparents (who raised her) live in Florida. Her best friend gives her a hard time about being single and makes fun of her for being a cat lady. So later that night, Emma goes back onto a dating app that she signed up for months ago. To her surprise there is one message from a guy that sounds perfect, so they agree to meet up.
Marcus is a self made millionaire. Billionaire? I don't remember. From the ground up, he has created one of the most successful hedge fund companies with his determination to have everything. Now all he needs is the perfect wife to hang off his arm and take to social functions. Meeting with a high profile match maker, he's surprised when she finds the perfect partner so quickly. Who he agrees to meet up with.
The way these two meet has astronomically low chances of really happening. Same place, same time, and with people having remarkably similar names. Not knowing that they're not the one they're supposed to be meeting, this little lunch date is an epic fail. Marcus is a huge ass and Emma eventually leaves, swearing off dating apps again. It doesn't take long at all for these two to figure out there has been a mixup. Marcus because his real date shows up, and Emma because it's the only thing that makes sense after she really thought about it.
It would have been the end right there, except Emma left her phone when she stormed off and Marcus sees this as a chance to see her again. And this is where the story starts it's downfall. Marcus turns into a legit stalker. He goes thru EVERYTHING on her phone. Pictures, texts, facebook. You name it. Doesn't stop there though. He soon even hires a shady PI to look into everything about her. Even after returning her phone, he sends her presents and texts her, practically demanding she go out with him and to places of his chosing. And of course she does. Because he's just soooo fucking hot and she apparently can't help but cave to him. Every.Single.Time. I really hated how these two literally did nothing but eat and have sex. Over and over and over. Which is usually all well and good, but I really wasn't feeling it here. They have zero in common and there is nothing to explain why they each think of the other 24/7.
I love me an alpha male. I really do. But I didn't like the way Marcus went about it. He used his money and his knowledge that Emma wanted his body to force his way into her life and get what he wanted. Even at the end of the book, he uses his power to DELAY A FUCKING FLIGHT right before Thanksgiving. And he uses his money to follow Emma after she has already told him it's over more than once.
I already knew I wasn't going to be reading the second book, but when we get to the end and Marcus has the epiphany that Emma just needs to move in with him to make everything all right, I was really done. That was just so damn stupid. Plus, I love cats and his distaste of them was a huge turn off.
I'm not done reading books by this author, but I am done with this series.
