Really well-written and entertaining. I think my only complaint is the instalove.

I know usually romances have to build themselves a foundation. But 75% of this book is about the heroine running away and being a crazy cat lady. Yep that’s right, a crazy cat lady. Most of the book is about how she’s worried about her three cats and her own insecurities. And the rest of the novel is nothing but angst from the guy because she keeps stringing him along & then worries about her cats some more.
I basically skimmed the book towards the end because I hoped it would grow but it nosedived.

The first thing you should know is that this book is not a one-and-done. It continues in a second book. Normally, this would make me very angry. I hate series books. They make me insane. However, Ava Erickson and Sebastian York brought this story to life in such a way that I had to keep listening and I'm going to go get the next book right now. It's like pretty woman but without all the weirdness of her being a hooker and him not really being very alpha. (You know Richard Gere's character was not that appealing) Marcus is seriously alpha and the slightest bit over the top in getting what he wants. Both Emma and Marcus are damaged people who just need someone to love them. Add Emma's crazy cats and I couldn't stop listening to this book. Off to get the next one!

Alpha male versus cat lady! This was a light, fluffy, low drama romance between two complete opposites.

Emma was kind and sweet, but not a pushover. Marcus was arrogant and had a plan for everything, including his future wife. So of course Emma falls into his world and completely disrupt all of his plans, in a marvelously adorable way.

Ends on a cliffhanger for some reason but who cares, off to get book 2.

Marcus is looking for a wife, some socialite to be the his perfect match but when he goes to a cafe to meet her a case of mistaken identities happens and he meets Emma a cat lady and bookworm who is as feisty as they come. She is the exact opposite of what he thinks he needs in a wife but after meeting the curvy redhead he is immediately attracted to her and decides he must get her out of his system before settling down with the perfect Emaline. He starts dating Emma but the more he gets to know her the more he wants her. After being rejected by her hires a PI to look into her and his addiction to her grows. Emma not wanting to become her mother a user and abuser tries to stay clear of billionaire Marcus but after sending her gifts and flowers the two end up spending a scorching weekend together. He gets cold feet and ghosts her trying to prove to himself he can control his addiction to her. Emma is hurt and angry and by the time Marcus realizes he made a mistake she is resigned to ending things and rejects him again but he is more determined than ever to make her his.

This book was really good I loved how independent Emma was and that she insisted on paying for her own food when they were out despite Marcus being a billionaire. Marcus obsession with her drove a lot of his actions and Emma’s fear of becoming her mother drove a lot of her actions. I can’t wait to read what happens in the next book.
