I actually enjoyed the book and I’m looking forward to the second one. However the fact that he kept calling her kitten put me off and I can’t take it seriously lol. Other than that it really interesting

3.25- 3.5 stars. Quickie review: This book was okay. It kept my attention. Emma was an annoying character. I think she was supposed to be quirky, but she came off as lacking in understanding social norms and thought processes, and was annoying in general. Marcus was ok, but I didn't completely love him either. Still, this wasn't a bad read. The story was interesting enough. I wanted to keep going in the duet, so that's something.

Wall Street Titan by Anna Zaires and Dima Zales is a clichéd and ultimately unsatisfying entry into the billionaire romance genre. Full disclosure: my opinion may be a bit biased because, honestly, billionaires shouldn't exist, even in fiction. The very premise of a morally grey MMC with a heart of gold feels hard to swallow when he's a billionaire—just my personal take.

Now, let’s start with the positives. Emma does stand up to Marcus more than most FMCs do when it comes to her morals and values, which I appreciated. That’s a win in my book.

But the not-so-good? Well, let's get into it.

First, can we please retire the trope where the MMC dubs the FMC with some generic nickname within minutes of meeting her? It’s cringeworthy. And why does only the MMC get to use a nickname? Let the FMC return the favor.

Alpha Zone? Really?

Emma’s character is oddly inconsistent. She’s adamant about splitting bills at every meal, but when Marcus essentially forces her to move in with him, there’s no consideration of a backup plan. She comes off as stubborn about the wrong things.

Marcus, on the other hand, is much more fleshed out, with his growth shown through his POV chapters. But his amusement at Emma’s very real anger feels insulting. Worse, his view of her setting boundaries as "cute" is equally dismissive. And his shift from wanting space to declaring, “she’s mine forever,” happens in the blink of an eye—literally. It feels rushed and forced.

The biggest issue here is the insta-love romance. Their connection feels rushed, with zero build-up to justify the intensity of their relationship. Their bond escalates too quickly, making it hard to believe in their feelings or get emotionally invested in them.

Instead of focusing on why Marcus and Emma are genuinely perfect for each other, the book spends too much time on physical attraction and pages of Marcus pushing Emma’s boundaries in the bedroom. Speaking of which, if Marcus is truly God’s gift to men, why does Emma play such a passive role in their intimate moments? Come on, girl—take charge. Feminism!

Ultimately, Wall Street Titan leans heavily on overused tropes, leaving little room for meaningful character development or emotional depth. It’s predictable, formulaic, and doesn’t offer anything new or compelling for fans of the genre.

Didn't really feel the emotional connection, and the obsession didn't feel justified to me.

felt too insta lovey

Pretty bad. I didn't like the instant love, and that we never got to really see the relationship evolve beyond that. The characters were incredibly flat and the ending was just an utter waste of time.
medium-paced

Dnf @ 15%, I can’t stand this type of fmc. The bookstore working, no money in her savings but has 3 cats, irresponsible personality. It wasn’t endearing and the names of the cats were repeated so much. I just didn’t feel the insta-attraction on either side that the reader is meant to believe. Felt boring.

Cat ladies everywhere should never lose hope! This was such an unlikely pair and I loved it!

Marcus comes off a bit jerky in the beginning. He's a self earned billionaire with a hedge fund. He needs a wife in the same social class who will understand how much he works. He's looking at his future wife like he would a business partner. He just seemed so cold and judgey about what he was looking for in a woman.

Emma is a nice, sweet girl that has a bit of a chip on her shoulder due to the way her mom was when she was younger. She always seemed to aim low in every aspect of her life. She's gone after her career halfheartedly and barely makes enough to live on. She rescued three cats who seem to take up all of her spare time, and she dates men who could never threaten her safe existence.

To say the least, these two wouldn't normally even acknowledge the others existence. That's exactly what I loved so much about this book. The way Marcus is almost baffled by his obsession with Emma was fun to see unfold. The way Emma didn't fall all over Marcus was also fun. I love it when a heroine makes the hero work for it. I cannot wait until book 2. The way this ended has me very excited to see what is going to happen next. Loved it!
lighthearted relaxing fast-paced

Ugh ends on a cliffhanger?? This doesn’t need to be two books…
