Absolutely loved this book! So cozy and by far my favorite one to sit down with a nice cup of hot tea and a cozy blanket.

The Spellshop is exactly what it was meant to be … a big mug of delicious hot chocolate… a hug in a book. You can relax into it.. cheer for the characters, knowing it will turn out alright in the end. Sometimes you just need a book like this
If you wanna read something cozy with magical vibes then you're at the right spot. Now listen to me yapping about the book I read recently:
So I just finished The Spell Shop. It's a fantasy standalone (as far as I know). The story is about an introvert librarian, Keila, of the Great Library of Alyssium. After the emperor gets thrown out of the window by the Revolutionaries and the Great Library gets burned to ashes, Kiela escape and starts her life anew in her birth island, Caltrey. Her only companions are books she managed to save from the library and her assistant, Caz, a talking spider plant.
The thing I loved the most about this book was its world-building. It's so colourful, vivid and magical. Especially Caltrey. You will surely feel like you live there. There are cloud bears, spell books, jams, talking plants, merfloks, merhorse, magical creatures and magic storms and so much more. My favourite scene was when Kiela and Caz went to help the cloud bears restore the forest. And there's the talking cactus, Meep.
I enjoyed almost 80% of the book. But the last 20%? I was disappointed. Like why the hell does everyone here believe the most obvious lies? And everything just happens like Kiela would hope for And why no one here ever explains anything to anyone?! Agh!
I got my hopes up when Radane came into view. I thought finally we got someone to spice up the story. You know like some conflict. And I enjoyed having her until Captain Verrik's ship arrived. And guess what? The author completely nerfed her.
And for the character writing, I think the only spotlight was held on Kiela and Caz. And others didn't get much opportunity to shine. I liked Larran of course. He's the greenest flag you can ever hope for. But you can just describe in one word "kind". And it's the same for others too.
But anyway, the writing style was fine and the pace was good. So I could get absorbed easily in the story. However, I wasn't satisfied with the ending. But hey if you like Disney-type stories this book might just be for you.
Anyways Happy reading.
