I enjoyed looking at the artwork that was at the beginning of each essay.

I have no idea what the thesis of this book is. What is the point? Why should I care?
Thank god it was a quick read because I was straight up not having a good time.

If only this book fell into the hands of those that could be awakened from its wisdom. And if only these people were able to understand and receive the wisdom within the story-  then we’d be on the right track to protecting nature and all its wild inhabitants. Especially at a time when preserving and protecting these ecosystems is vital more than ever.
Margaret has brilliantly woven these worlds together through years of observation and storytelling. This book took me back to my childhood days of exploring nature and the wildlife that surrounded our house in a suburban neighborhood. And it has encouraged me to have a watchful eye on all the happenings that occur in my own backyard- as well as various wildlife places i frequent. She’s humanized a world that we have sadly grown so far apart from. And has done a beautiful job of relating wildlife happenings to her own life. A fledgling leaving the nest can be compared to her three sons moving out on their own. If only we grew closer
to the remembrance of a time when we
were more connected to the world - instead of being engulfed in consumerism and commercialism - then
we’d be one step closer to restoring that balance. Here’s hoping this book is shared with many- we all need more of this storytelling in our lives.
