Picked it up, and read it cover to cover.
Well-written characters with flaws that weren't an obnoxious trait to justify being an asshole. Filled with cute moments that make you kick your feet and squeal. To moments of pure rage, anger, and deep emphathy that made me cry endlessly for their pain.
I don't know what other people rate it, but for me it had a little bit of everything.

<3<3<3<3 much love for the characters, book, and author

This is my first novel by the author and it was cute if you like a slow burn intermingled with enemies to lovers. For me, I didn't learn more about Indian culture (there are better books that can teach you about the background and customs of South East Asians) but I did appreciate the interweaving of serious issues mixed with the romance (assault, women constantly not being believed when speaking the truth, the double standard between women and men + their sexual promiscuity)
As far as the characterization goes, it wasn't fully consistent for me. Our two MC's initially were planned to be presented a certain way based on our first chapters of introducing them but then they felt different as the story progresses. I will still read more from this author because I'm hoping the side characters are given their own books (I liked Liya's friends a tad bit more lol)

I loved this one.  The author did an amazing job at creating this beautiful back story and the tie in with Indian/Hindu culture was beautiful.  Happy to read this one.

While this book did have its cute moments, the
deep misogyny of Liya’s father, Ravi, and Mukesh
was hard to ignore. The
sexual assault was also really graphic, and I was SO. ANGRY. at the men in Liya’s life who fundamentally failed her.
But all in all, it was really interesting exploring another culture and its traditions.

I loved this book. I loved that it was a different culture from my own. Liya was very strong in how she came across but she became a lot more understandable as the book went on. I also really liked Jay and his family.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel! I really liked the majority of the characters and hated the ones that needed to be hated. What makes a novel memorable to me are the lovable characters as I grow with them in the journey of the novel and I felt this really delivered. One of my favorite tropes has got to be the hate/love one. Being an avid asian drama watcher, this truly gave me drama vibes.
