I honestly didn't have high hopes for this book. Years ago I read its sequel, Son of Rosemary, and thought it was terrible. But since Rosemary's Baby is considered such a classic I figured maybe it was better than its sequel. The book ended up being exactly what I expected. It was definitely better than its sequel, but it was very predictable (and no, I haven't seen the movie). I was disappointed with the character of Rosemary. She was very naive and made poor choices throughout the entire novel. Overall, the book kept my attention, but I was not terribly impressed with it. I'm not sure if it was because I read the book 45 years after it was written or if it was that way at the time.

Overall I liked it and it was hard to put it down but I didn’t like the ending. Not because it was a poorly written ending, I understand I’m not supposed to like the ending but I do not like it and that’s why 3 stars.

The early part was more compelling but something about it kinda lost me toward the end. Maybe because I'd seen the movie and so I knew the ending. The creeping unease is some of the best I've read. Gave me actual pregnancy nightmares.
