This story was a thrilling nail biter. Taran is constantly in danger and always seems to find herself right in the middle of the fight. She is repeatedly pushing the limits with her Warlord husband while trying to distinguish her role in this new life. This series is intense and entertaining and I can’t wait to see how it ends.

This book starts right off where book one ended, with Taren getting seriously chomped by a primitive.

Taren and Diogo are growing closer, but their fundamental differences on how they'd handle the security of the Sanctuary are starting to show. Taren tells Diogo that the choices he is making are wrong.
I tip my head up to glare at him. He looks down at me with a glacial expression. "Right and wrong are human constructs we create to control the masses of people."

"Says every evil despotic ruler ever," I snap, tuning on my arms, trying to free myself.
They make up because their love/lust takes over after this argument. I was annoyed at how ignorant Taren seemed to be most of the time. She mopes around when she could be making such a different to those rebels who used to follow her.
"We've been through this before, Grayson. If you don't get my husband here now, then I will create an emergency that will make a city on fire look like child's play.
She gets her way every time, Diogo adores her and forgives her little tantrums. His love for her really shines in this second book.
I will do anything to make sure my wife is safe. Taren is my Sanctuary.
He's still on my shit list because he's a complete alpha know-it-all, but he gets all mushy lovey with Taren and I find that adorable.

I was shocked when early on in the story Diogo
Spoiler simply kills her ex-husband. It wasn't something I was expecting and I'm SURE that will come back to bite him in the ass.

We also discover that
Spoiler both sisters (Taran and Skye) are immune to the Necrotitis disease.

This is the second book in the series and I definitely enjoyed it. This picks up directly after that shocker of a finale and here we get the aftermath of Taran’s bite and Diogo’s struggle to allow his wife out of his sight or unprotected especially with all that went down previously.
Diogo is still willing to remove anyone or thing he believes a threat to his little bird even if it means withholding vital information from her for her own well-being.
In fact, I think he’s become even more intense in regards to Taran and his need to own every part of her soul.

There’s a lot going on with this one and we get to spend some time away from the sanctuary and also experience some more intense action with the primitives.
New players are also introduced and there are escalating concerns within the city the rebels are becoming more problematic and causing chaos and theirs also a wider issue concerning other sanctuary city’s. This again ended on another cliffhanger and I can’t wait to find out what is coming next.

One of my favourite parts about this series is how possessive and obsessed Diogo is about his wife.
In his eyes, she hung the moon and I don’t think there’s anything she could do to turn him away from her he’s completely devoted. She is now his reason for everything he does and keeping her safe and alive his ultimate priority.
Taran equally loves her husband right back and even if their views don’t always align he has become everything to her even as she struggles to reconcile her past goals with her new future by his side.
This series has turned out to be amazing and I’m loving everything about it I definitely recommend it if you like dystopian romance it’s a good one.
