This started out really good. Gillian Flynn has such a voice for strong, female characters. I was hooked right away. The middle is where it really took off. And the 'twist' that she always has was good except she had a second twist that I wasn't quite as big of a fan of. So therefore, the ending was a bit of a letdown. Not nearly as unnerving and creepy as I'd hoped for. The middle made it seem creepy and possibly dealing with demonic possession or haunted house or what? But then the twist happened and it kind of let it all down. Still good, quick read though.

This novella is an excellent Halloween read, particularly if you go with the audio version. Gillian Flynn doesn't write nice characters, but she does write three-dimensional characters with evocative descriptions. The tale of a haunted house (maybe yes, maybe no) and the con artists at work keeps you guessing even after the end.

Short sweet and to the point!

I consume ANYTHING Gillian Flynn writes! This is my favorite so far but I wish it were longer! It's a great read that sucks you in with the first shocking sentence!

I actually like the ambiguous ending which i usually hate.
The protangonist is very funny and the way she thinks really resonate with me.
