Gillian Flynn

3.55 AVERAGE

That was. . .so weird and short. I don’t really know what to think about it. I liked the beginning and it really had me hooked and then the ending just was weird and not good. Huh.

The whole middle part was thrilling but I do not like open endings like this one had. I like to know the truth of things and how things end. And for this ending to just be like

This was a short read so that is the main reason why I would tell people to just go ahead and read it if you are a fan of Gillian Flynn. I thought that overall it was ok, not exceptional, though I do applaud Flynn for setting up a whole lady or the tiger scenario with the main character.

I wish that I could say that I found this book interesting, but besides the psychological thriller aspect of it, I thought the whole thing was a bit snooze worthy, especially the ending.

Creepy...more please!!!

Gillian Flynn came out with a short story and it’s just as messed up as her full fledged novels.

Like the rest of her books, the main character is really hard to like and she’s manipulative in her own way. This story’s protagonist doesn’t have a name and begins the story switching careers from giving hand jobs in the back of Spiritual Palms to reading auras in the front. Varying levels of fraud here, but relatively harmless, right?

Well, one day Susan Burke walks in wanting a reading. But her case is very interesting and very severe sounding so our nameless protagonist pays her a house call. The old house is definitely an eerie place and that’s where our little psychic fraud gets a little out of her depth.

This short story is pretty good and gripping enough to not want to put it down, so you can finish it really quickly if you have an hour to spare. I think I like her novels a little bit more though.

Gillian Flynn is one of the great psychological thriller authors. The Grownup does not disappoint from what I have always loved about her tales even in its miniature size.

This short novel has all the traits of any good horror theme - an old house, creepy kid, high powered women and more. I would recommend this book to anyone who reads one to next page to find out the truth of what is really going on.

I used to consider myself a huge Gillian Flynn fan and I still think Sharp Objects is awesome but every new thing she writes I like less and this is no exception. The book was diverting but not GOOD. The story had some interesting elements but nothing really paid off. Sort of disappointing.

Wonderful novella! Fun mystery ghost story

Such an awesome little book. I was hooked the whole time. So many twists and turns I just wish it had been longer.
