There were a lot of cringey moments which I admit I love sometimes but I didn't particularly care for them this time. I think it was harder to look past it when the characters weren't as lovable.

As the story progresses, the romance heats up, showcasing Noah’s unexpected skills, which makes the relationship feel real and exciting. The slow burn turns into a full-on inferno, and Noah, apparently, is a man of many talents. His ‘long-suppressed’ skills come to light in a way that’ll make you fan yourself with the nearest object.
In the grand finale, Mack stands tall, not as a damsel in distress, but as a fierce omega who can throw a punch as well as she can heal a wound. Her and Noah’s happily ever after isn’t just sweet; it’s a high-five to all the strong, independent folks out there finding love on their terms. And let’s not overlook Parker, the gay bestie every girl deserves, bringing his own brand of fabulous to the mix. ‘The Fake Mate’ is a howl-arious blend of romance, comedy, and a generous dash of spice that really heats up in the second half. It’s the kind of book that leaves you with a smirk, a sigh, and maybe a slight obsession with finding your own grumpy cardiologist. 🐾💘

This is A/B/O and yes there is knotting in the smut scenes, as well as scenting and possessiveness. There's also pressure from Mackenzie's and Noah's families for them to have children but nothing more serious than "it would be nice to have grandchildren". The medical content is also mostly just the fact that they work in a hospital and are both doctors. And a lot of stuff at the beginning are hand waved as "hormones" by both MCs.79lulu12's review against another edition
