A great start that follows one devoted fan Laura a true believer of the 12 gods of the pantheon, who are reborn into human bodies every ninety years. The major catch, after becoming gods each person only gets 2 years to burn bright, inspire humanity and save us all from gods know what. Looking forward to more myth incorporation in the following issues this is gods as if they were pop superstars, an interesting take but not as much like Sandman as I'd hoped

I really liked this but might not be able to write a coherent review since it took me ages to finish (I went on vacation, my library hold expired, I had to wait a couple weeks to check it out again, etc). It’s mythological reincarnates, wherein a varied pantheon is reincarnated every ~90 years and possess human hosts for two years: during that time, they gain ineffable powers, rejoin their dysfunctional family, and become something like rock stars for regular human society, until the gods burn out and die again. The first volume kicks off a murder mystery, as one of the gods seems to be running amok and framing Lucifer for it — thus leaving a fangirl and a reporter to dig into the matter and find out what’s actually going on.

I’ve heard good things about this series in general, buuuut I might have been overhyped? I love mythological reincarnates (see also: Kendare Blake’s [b:Antigoddess|13246736|Antigoddess (Goddess War, #1)|Kendare Blake|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1354541364s/13246736.jpg|18447240]), but the music/rock star angle isn’t one that particularly interests me, so it didn’t hook me as much as it perhaps should’ve. I’ll be continuing it tho, and the art is gorgeous. 3.5 stars, rounded down after some consideration.

I feel like what bothers me about the worldbuilding is that 90 years feels awfully long for a cycle: entire generations could go by without ever encountering the gods, so I’m not sure if I buy their being able to instantly drum up so much established fame/notoriety/fandom so quickly (they play sold-out concerts, they get interviewed, mankind seems generally aware of the supposed 90-year cycle). If it was every 30 years or so, that would make more sense to me, as at least there’d be more living memory & records to increase the average citizen’s interest in these reincarnates.

I hate this but giving it a go. I’ve heard it’s a good series and the art is bomb.

Love the artwork and the concept of this series. Luci is one of my favorite characters. Read this when it first came out and now rereading it.

Plutôt 2,5. Les illustrations sont absolument magnifiques mais j'ai moins apprecié l'histoire.

i requested this graphic novel in netgalley without knowing anything about the plot. unfortunately, what i found in the wicked and the divine was a very weird story, difficult to follow and understand, without introduction or much direction. the amount of "gods" was too much to help the reader get started with the story and settled in the plot line. in the end, i finished reading the comic book exactly the same way i started: without knowing anything... i didn't understand the story nor the characters motivations. i just didn't know what i read.

on the other hand, the art is fantastic, realistic but creative, and the colouring was gorgeous. sadly, not enough to get me interested in future issues of this comic.
