River Secrets

Best book ever, Razo is the best charicter in the entire series, he's witty and short, and the worst swordsman in all of the king's own hundred band. He makes the best main charicter that anyone could ever ask for. And he, after being dumped by that one girl...what's her name? He gets a new girl for a girlfriend, Dasha...but assasians are plotting to overthrow Bayern, and they have an unexpected talent...BEST BOOK EVER!

Razo is my favorite character in the series and should be my best friend but:
1) The plot is weaker than the previous books, focusing more on the magic system.
2) There is no romantic chemistry between him and Dasha.

As in all (okay, maybe *most*, since I haven’t read them ALL) of Shannon Hale’s books, there is a sweet coming of age story with an adorable budding romance and funny characters and dialogues. Razo is so great and it is a fun spy story. Enna Burning (Book #2) is incredible so, because River Secrets comes right after that one, it is more apparent how this one is a little more playful and shallow and seems less developed. Still great, but adjust expectations going in accordingly.

Razo is hillarious!!! What an amazing book!

I love hales writing style, she doesn't waste time. I also loved razo and Dasha together. But often times I felt like finn and enna were still the main characters having an interesting side plot as razo often wished they were there. Also razos humor grew from being stupid when his character grew up. Other than that it was just a murder mystery and im not the biggest fan of murder mysteries.

The last book was my favorite but Razo is my favorite character and this story is all about him so I loved it. He’s so funny and fun to read. I’m excited to read it again!
