Was recommended this by a coworker as her top romance read. This was everything I was hoping for and more. Tore out my heart and shredded it in front of me at times. Beautifully done with the depth of love from grief, loss, romance, familial, friendship, and more. This book went above and beyond in discussing grief after losing a parent and I thank the author for providing something so authentic that I finally felt heard in my own.

This book is so good. I read 350 pages yesterday and finished it this morning. Yes I read it fast because I’m returning it (long story) but also cuz it’s really so so good. It’s so easy to just keep reading, to say hmm just one more chapter. I love how I got to see them grow up it’s so beautiful the way they communicated. Their honesty, I just love everything about it. All their inside jokes, the favorite word, the dragon porn. Love it. I love their little closet library and how he always brought her his books. It was just so cute and I love it. I love the mom’s checklist thing, and the daughter dad dynamic. I love Elliot’s family, literally everything about this book I love so so much. It’s so cute. 5/5. This kinda felt like a Colleen Hoover book idk why. The favorite word thing reminded me of their little jokes in it ends with us which is a good thing.

I think I can officially say that the duo of Christina Lauren has successfully infiltrated my heart into the deepest, most emotional parts.

I feel numb after finishing this one, because I felt everything else while reading it. It didn’t take me long at all to pour through it, but somehow I’m left thinking I’d been inside those words for years and years. It was so comforting, real, sweet, honest, deep, heartbreaking… and other words.

To say this is a ‘great romance’ is doing it a disservice—it is an overwhelming portrait of every pulsing vein that makes up a contemporary romance. The chemistry between Elliot and Macy, built up so naturally, stretched into an aching slow burn, the intensity of raw hurt and mixed signals, dialogue dripping with honesty, the painful passage of time lost. Short chapters switching between “then” and “now” made it all the more heart racing. Would love prevail?

This isn’t a romcom, like the other books by Lauren that I’ve read. I adore romcoms, but I adore real stories even more. Real characters, real emotions, real loss, real situations. And this is real, this is all-encompassing, this is love

Lauren’s full-hearted leap with this romantic drama is an instant winner for me. Hard to believe it was their first foray into women’s lit. What a home run.

Reading this without knowing anything about it is the best decision ever. I got giddy when I realised the main characters are readers too. I have always dreamed of having a mini library in my home. Seeing them spending time in the closet just warms my heart.

I may not be addicted to the book that I could not put it down but it's good enough that I would recommend it to others.

This book was such an amazing read. I didn’t have very high expectations in terms of my overall impact from this book, but it completely surprised me. I loved reading this. The characters were very loveable, especially the main characters. The romance was sweet. The whole time the book kept hinting at what broke Macy and Elliot up, and due to the big buildup I was expected to be disappointed. I was not. It was beautifully written and I wouldn’t change a thing. At first I thought that they were simply overreacting, but when it all unravels you understand why it has been so long. I love how the author foreshadows the plot twist with simple things Macy says like “I’m not a fan of cars.” Unexpected but it all adds up in the end. I did cry a little. I also did enjoy the ending. It was beautifully done. There were some aspects I thought were slightly annoying. Macy and Sean’s relationship seemed like nothing but a plot device as a reason for Macy and Elliot to not get together immediately. While it was meant to be boring, it was too boring to actually make an impact in this book. I would have personally preferred more drama, although I liked the love triangle aspect when one interest was so glaring obvious (in other words - Sean is dishwater, Elliot is coke). I also felt like Elliot’s apology at the end was half assed and didn’t really explain anything. His version of events didn’t seem very realistic, but love him anyways. Overall, I would highly recommend for anyone who loves an emotional romance drama.
“I never got to fall out of love. I just had to move on.”
“I haven’t been living without him. I’ve been merely surviving.”
“It never occurred to me that love could be anything other than all-consuming. Even as a child, I knew I never wanted anything less.”
