Entertaining and page turning late 60s horror.

Pregnant Rosemary and her husband Guy move into historic and selective apartments with a dark history. She is warned by friends. She doesn’t listen. They meet the neighbors who turn out to not be the best neighbors. They are creepy.

Guy is a bit of an ass.

Fun and entertaining book.

Rosemary’s Baby was creepy and suspenseful. It was a bit slow moving but I think this helped really set the scene and allow the reader to feel the suspense and the buildup. It was a well-written, easy to read story about Guy and Rosemary and their move to the Bramford apartments in NYC. They have neighbors who are very much involved in their lives but things are going well until strange and creepy things start to happen. We follow Rosemary on this journey of discovery.

The movie, which came out in 1968 and stars Mia Farrow, is very true to the book. When reading, I found myself reading it in the way women spoke back then. Or at least how they were portrayed to have spoken with that soft, old fashioned, almost naive way of speaking.

I really enjoyed this book. There are things I had to overlook such as some of the terms used to describe people and how subservient Rosemary was but that's just a sign of the times. Overall this is a good, spooky, classic.
