I wasn't really prepared for this as I thought it was going to be a fun, cozy small town romance. This was not that. I enjoyed it, but there is a lot of angst and drama. I also had a hard time with the audiobook specifically because there is much more on-page time for the FMC and I did not like her narrator as much as the MMC's narrator. The female narrator had a ton of vocal fry that I found grating.

Beckett is terrible with communication, but his obsession for Elouise is delightful.

🤎

〰️ No romantic plot
🤍 A small amount of romantic plot is present, but doesn't get past kisses and hugs.
💚 There is some light spice, but closed door
🧡 There is mildly descriptive spicy scenes, but they are finished very quickly and could be easily skipped over
🤎 Spice is present, very descriptive, but doesn't overwhelm the plot.
🩷 There is a plot, but there are quite a lot of descriptive spicy

I couldn’t help but laugh and cringe with secondhand embarrassment for poor Lou. If she didn’t have bad luck, she wouldn’t have any.

I found myself related to Lou’s awkwardness and fumbling moments and I was happy to see her confidence and sass grow throughout the book.

Beck is everything you want your unrequited crush to be. Protective, handsome, and kind. Despite his lack of communication regarding some important points, he is a likable and swoon worthy MMC.

I read the second book in this series first and loved it so I decided to try this one as well. It was cute. Not as good as that second book, but fun.

I struggled through the first few chapters, but after finishing I understand the importance of them. Elouise - Lou - fell in love with Beckett when she was 7, he broke her heart at 15, and at 18 she vowed to forget him. She did, for over a decade, until he shows up at a school sponsored camping trip.

This was a quick read that I didn’t want to put down once I got into it. The spice was - WOW! I hate camping and anything outdoors, but if Beckett asked - I’d rough it for as long as he wanted! He’s so sweet and rough all at the same time. He’s incredibly jealous and possessive, he becomes her protector, always on alert.

The story is sweet and spicy, with a thrilling twist towards the end that I started to anticipate, but did NOT expect the outcome.

I 100% recommend this book!

Very solid romance with a great semi second chance trope. Beckett was a wonderful alpha male and I love to see their relationship grow and unfold.
