I really liked this. The combination of such early history and filling the blanks in with good fiction is irresistible.

Started with a bang, then i hit a wall. All is well though, because this was one of those books that made me slowly drop the book down into my lap and stare at the wall in wonder LOL. Strong finish & can’t wait for more!

And because of your sacrifice, you will hear them.
You will hear them and return.
And they will remember.
Myrddin, they will cry out.

Okay, so I saw The Lost Queen trilogy being talked about online, and someone said it's like 'Outlander meets Camelot.' I immediately thought nope, don't do it. You've heard such high praise about other books and more often than not, you've come away disappointed. And, I did it anyway. I dove in, and lo and behold, I was not at all disappointed. Signe Pike writes beautifully, and these characters get to you in the best possible ways. They also get to you in the worst possible ways because I can pretty much guarantee that things are going to happen that you aren't going to like, and it's going to make you mad. Maybe that's just me? It's entirely possible, but all I know is these characters sucked me right in and held on tight. This author is definitely a master of her craft because it's been awhile since I read a book set this far back and felt like I was there, witnessing everything. I'm not going to give anything away, so I'll just say this is a must read story. If you enjoy historical fiction or fantasy, you don't want to miss this one.

I really enjoyed the first book, so I leapt into this one to what awaited our protagonists. Especially since the first ended on such a cliffhanger.
I wasn't disappointed. Although I'm glad it was a trilogy, as I was left feeling slightly dissatisfied and wanting to know what happened at the end. This book focuses more on Lailoken rather than his sister (of the first book), but it does include her at parts, and also her daughter, who goes on her own adventure. And this book is a lot bloodier, with battles and war. It does span over the years, although the chapters themselves take place in one time and then it will "jump" to a different time line throughout the book.
I thought the different perspectives were good. I almost liked the first when it was more one narrator, but with all the stories being told in this book that just would not have been possible. It's just that I got connected to Languoreth and her tale, and I grew comfortable on her journey. It's not that her brother and daughter aren't interesting, I just like her.
So all that said, I'm eager for the next book to come out. I want to see where this journey goes and what the final resolution is for our characters.

A stunning follow-up to [b:The Lost Queen|38355440|The Lost Queen (The Lost Queen Trilogy, #1)|Signe Pike|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1535882851l/38355440._SX50_.jpg|60021563], The Forgotten Kingdom is a bit of a slow burn, taking its time to build up to a stirring ending, leaving me in great anticipation of the concluding book in the trilogy. I read the audiobook version, so similar-sounding character names and place names occasionally took me out of the narrative flow a bit, but still, this is an immersive and atmospheric read.
