I remember loving this book - more like interactive art - as a child. I hope my parents still have it, I'd love to re-read it soon.
"The Jolly Postman" for adults. Beautiful art accompanied by an interesting and mysterious correspondence between an artist and ... his muse? Or is she just a woman with whom he shares a telepathic bond? And will the relationship destroy him? My curiosity has been piqued.
Beautiful Book!
Five stars.
I loved everything. Reading a story told through letters was a heartwarming experience. I had the opportunity a few years ago of reading through a bundle of old letters my great grandmother, long since passed, left in an old cash box. It was an intimate and endearing time. To learn about someone through their letters is truly a gift. I enjoy letters, both reading and writing. This book gave me a moment to reflect on this time as well as enjoy the story told through the letters of Griffin and Sabine.
The art made it even more inviting and enjoyable. Not your typical postcard and stationary here. Every envelope, every page, a work of art made by the sender. To understand someone through their creations is yet another way of drawing closer to their true person.
However, it leaves you hanging. Wish I had purchased the second one as well. *sigh* must be patient.
Wonderfully absorbing read.

Interesting way to tell a story...using postcards and letters. The reader actually takes the letters out of envelopes... an interesting interactive way to share the story. It is a trilogy so the story was very much about setting things up and providing history. The ending is a cliffhanger and easily piqued my interest in reading the next one. Loved the artwork and illustrations throughout.
Griffin and Sabine is a very non-traditional book. An experiment in artificial "found" literature, the book follows the correspondence of two random people separated by miles and culture who are tied together by an inexplicable link. This book is a window into that connection and their discovery of one another.
Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the book is it's presentation. While it is a printed book, as much of the "correspondence" is maintained. The letters are contained within envelopes and have to be removed to be read. Each item is lovingly crafted and offers as much insight into the differences in the characters as the written word contained within.
While there isn't a definite end to the book, and more questions are asked than answered, it is definitely worth a read if you can find a copy of it.

Fascinating, weird, mysterious, and uniquely riveting.
This book was pretty neat. The images were a little weird at times but so was the story.
One of the better “fine art” books I’ve read in a while, it’s interactive as well since you have to open envelopes and take out “letters”. Ends on a cliffhanger though.
