You have probably have seen the short film based on this book, but Hair Love is about a father trying to do his daughter’s hair. Hair Love is a sweet story about the bond between father and daughter and loving your natural hair. Even if you have seen the short film, I do highly recommend reading the book as well.

Tender parable about caring and loving self via hair you have grown in plus the bond between dad and daughter...the short film tied to this is just as beautiful.

The only downside to this book is that I wish it was longer! I think all Black little girls deserve to read this book and be represented. I read this for fun for BHM and I wish I had this book growing up! It's really empowering to see how the little girl and her dad makes her crown–perfection. Overall, I'd give this book a 4.5/5!

5 stars. I have no interest in having kids and my niece is twelve and would give me a dirty look if I even suggested a picture book to her but this was so incredibly beautiful. The artwork, the story, the melanin, the love of natural hair, Zuri. All of it was just so delightful. I'm not gonna lie, I got a little emotional and full of happy tears at the end because it was just so sweet. Loved it and because my niece has natural hair as well I'm still going to recommend it to her even though she's going to give me the side eye.
