This book tells the story of a series of uncomfortable short term relationships. Did Nishino ever really love any of his "loves" at all?

Kawakami's book are short and quirky, yet very enjoyable and easy to get into. This little book tells the story of Nishino through the eyes of 10 of his lovers.

Nishino is one weird dude and even weirder are the women he chose to date. Each of the stories were short and interconnected, funny and sometimes uncomfortable. Emotionally, this was a very shallow book. Feelings were described but it not feel to me like the characters actually felt anything. I have noticed that this is quite common in Japanese literature books, so emotional detachment could either be a cultural thing or just feelings are being lost in translation as the Japanese language is not the easier to translate.

If you are looking for something quick, light and summery to read, then this is the book you need.
