First book I read in the series. I enjoyed the village setting and the characters. I would of liked more of an exciting twist on the murders but I suppose it's a cosy read. I enjoyed it.

Another cozy murder mystery. I enjoy the laugh out loud moments.

Review - I have noticed that Beaton is better writing about country life than anything involving the press or media. Hence, this one was a let-down for me. Nevertheless, it was still cleverly done - no matter the topic that always seems to be the case. I think my favourite characters in this novel were Elspeth and Inspector Carson. They interacted really well with Hamish and both added a little something extra to the story, which has been missing in previous ones.

This is my third by this author and the second from the Macbeth series. They are good quick, light, entertaing reads, however they don't seem to engage me quite as much as some other authors who can tell a good mystery, and I can't quite put my finger on why. I wouldn't say that I won't read any more if they come my way, but I wouldn't be drawn into hunting them out.

Another great read. This one carried a bit more weight than the previous books.
