Honestly, this is probably a great book if you’re hungry for more Rooney, but for me it was just a lot of the worst parts of a Rooney novel. The closest people in Alice’s life are shitty to her, she’s shitty to people who are trying to be friendly, and I don’t think I read a single page where Alice’s thinness wasn’t mentioned.
I wanted to keep reading and see if it starts to change, but I found myself dreading the idea of sitting down to read it. If someone happens across this and wants to tell me about their experience (good or bad) with finishing this novel, I’d love to hear your opinions!
