This book made me think manic pixie dream girl. But then I went down a rabbit hole on the phrase because deep down I had a feeling it was not appropriate to use anymore. The more you know! See here: I'm sorry for coining the phrase "Manic Pixie Dream Girl"

So my thought on this book? The core character doesn't really change from beginning to end. The only likeable characters are Santiago and Eleanor, and they are belittled and/or considered boring by other characters. Which makes sense, since the other characters live in a glam NYC bubble. An addictive read, but also frustrating.

It’s a story about a toxic couple with friends around them who have bad influence on them. It makes the characters live in this devil circle where everyone makes bad decisions. The very very End shows character development.

The characters in the book are highly unlikeable, but their facets are also like those of every person you have ever met. It is dark, and triggering, and you constantly wish they would all make better decisions and better relationships, but also understand them making those choices.

A proper show of the delicate balance that relationships, big and small, have on one another. Balancing between opinions and perspectives, feelings and foreshadowing, this book beautifully describes the messiness of human relationships, mental health and addiction.
From love, to attention, to jealousy, this books ranges every human emotion there is and brings you to empathize with each character as you watch the tangles of lives over this short year and a half span.
