yayyyy book two!!!!! Nice to meet u alex fierro i instantly love you. we explore more worlds, flesh out our characters and their relationships, and go on a time constraint quest that has big consequences! Magnus gets to know the incompetence and apathy of the gods as one does. Loki is a great antagonist and i love having the his two kids work together but be so different and also be opposed to their godly parents. Gods are never the main antagonists in pjo and im glad it switches here. I just love it so much. Also tough ending line. This taking place around jason graces death 💔 all roads lead to jason. ANYWAY. Sooooo good

I have really enjoyed Riordan's series individually, and this one has been no exception. My only complaints is that it is beginning to become more con using as multiple mythologys are combining which makes my brain hurt, and that they kept on saying "translating" ASL, which cannot be done because that implies it is a written language and so it would be more appropriate to say "interpreting."

I was so sure they were gonna put Magnus in the dress, but I guess that joke is not pc these days. Oh well.

On one hand, Alex has chilled somewhat, so I like her, and Samirah remains the most rounded character of the bunch. The fight scenes are also the best from any Riordan book, probably because these kids can heal from anything.

On the other hand, the book remains preachy; the whole thing with Hearth's dad was trying So Hard to be Sad and Terrible that I just found it ridiculous, and although I like Magnus, he was pretty much dead weight this time. I just can't see how they're going to close his arc in just one book. I hope he does something to earn being the title character.

I loved this book. Magnus is a big sweetheart. I love the banter between Blitzen and Hearthstone. Hearth's backstory made me want to cry. Alex was by far my favorite character!!!!!!

Ugh I love Magnus and his friends so much!! The plot in this book was so much more engaging than the first one if that’s possible! I didn’t even plan on starting the second but I read a couple pages and then I just could NOT STOP READING!!! It was so captivating! I love the diversity & having a gender fluid character was amazing! Alex was introduced in such a normalized way and it was honestly so beautiful to see! The majority of the main characters just accepted it and moved on! & the conversations surrounding Alex’s identity were rooted in curiosity and understanding, not hatred or judgement. It was refreshing & so well-done. And the ending!!! Excited for Magnus & Percy to meet up!! This was just such a solid second book & I’m ready to read the conclusion, even if I don’t wanna say bye to this wonderful bunch of characters!
