I treated it as a way to enhance my mythology knowledge more than as a collection of stories and that made me enjoy it more. Good book overall.

I admittedly bought this book out of reviews and pure trust in Neil Gaiman. Though I knew of Norse myths from here and there, I’ve never thought I would become interested enough to read a book written entirely just about them. Funny how good things often came from the unexpected!

I truly and deeply admire Gaiman’s writing, the stories are super entertaining, funny and easy to keep up. What a task it must be, translating and transforming ancient folktales into a story that people in modern worlds (not to mention people who grew up with a totally different cultures) can fall into fascination and begging for more!

Good. The Witch’s Heart was better.

Started out kind of tough. It was hard for me to get used to the names, and keep everyone straight. And the writing seemed very succinct, on the edge of being choppy. But as I got more into it either my brain got used to it, or the storytelling format smoothed out, and I quite enjoyed it. I think it's a pretty good introduction to Norse mythology for those, like me, who have almost zero knowledge going in.
