Reading this felt like listening to a bard--or what I imagine listening to a bard would be like. The stories are told simply and clearly, but they have a magic to them, and a timelessness. Gaiman's characteristic sarcastic wit and clear-eyed realism infuse the tales with a little bit of modern sensibility, while leaving the ancient nature of the mythology intact. Really enjoyable to read, one story at a time so it doesn't go by too fast.

Incredibly fun, accessible interpretation of the Norse gods and their stories! This definitely got me interested in reading more about Norse mythology. Happy to have finally read this!

A nice collection of stories told and re-told by Neil Gaiman who loves Norse mythology so this is right up my alley. This is a very enjoyable read if you are into mythology and you like Gaiman's writing style! Some stories are very serious, some are very poetic, some are very comical. Nice introduction nice begining and nice ending. Overall a very light, fast and easy read if you need a moment to get your head In the clouds and get to know more of this wonderful collection of folklore and mythos.

In 2018 I rated this very high. It is very enjoyable, a wonderful collection of tales. And I especially enjoyed that the author read the audiobook. He did a fantastic job with that recording.
