This series holds the promise to be a favorite for me

Fraser and Daphne were everything to me!

This book had everything I was looking for:

✅ Monsters
✅ Romance
✅ Grumpy/Sunshine
✅ Fake mating
✅ True mates
✅ Delicious tension
✅ Humor
✅ Action
✅ Good vs Evil
✅ Toe-curling knotty smut
✅ STORY!

I stayed up all night reading this knowing I have to work in the morning because I couldn’t even think about anything but consuming this book, story, characters, plot.

The story was well plotted and paced. I did not read the previous series with the world building but didnt feel too lost in the early part of the book, which is a testament to some good writing.

I liked Daphne and Fraser a lot. I am a sucker for a good grump/sunshine with some mutual pining, and this delivered. My issues were more with the poor overall editing. The author could use some better beta readers to help her refine because the bones are definitely there.

Honestly surprised I enjoyed this one. There was even a plot to the smut and I’m here for it (got this on stuff your kindle day)

This a bit like if you took the premise of The Librarians - securing magical artifacts away from the public - but with protagonists who are a Scottish werewolf + human and she’s his mate but doesn’t know it. Such a fun read. The full moon in the garden while he’s shifted scene is naughty and delightful. If a wolfy romance mixed with a mysterious chase for a magical artifact interests you, read it.

Technically a dnf at 81%, but I'm counting this as read (bc i put way too many hours into this, let them not be to waste).
In short:
  • Boring
  • FMC from the start ≠ FMC towards the end. What the heck happened? Is it just me?
  • MMC was hot n cold for the entire book. Even soft boy at one point but that lasted like a minute then he was back to broody.
  • What is that plot?
  • What are those side characters?
  • Why does the book start with the POV from a minor side character??
  • The last scene I read was when FMC, MMC and MMCs brother searched for the artifact in a cottage. No spoilers but WHY WHY WHY does nobody have braincells 😭😭😭. Jumping to conclusions left and right with no proof.
  • Honestly tho the worst part of the book was just the "hot and cold" asshole.
