this book appeared, on its face, to be exactly the type of stupid book i love - mentions of fancy british stores, ill-fated dinner parties, chocolate muffins, drinks with the girls, characters with weird names no one has in real life (ex: woney, patchouli), a financially irresponsible protagonist whos always getting into situations, and the rich men who love her. unfortunately literally nothing happens in it, and not even in an entertaining way. i recommend confessions of a shopaholic 1000X times over this - very similar only way more chocolate muffins, cocktails, and situations. bridget jones may have outpaced it in the weird name department though.

I would have found this book funnier in the 90s. The obsession with calories and men, while done satirically, got boring after a while. Fantastic reader!

I genuinely can’t even consider this as a novel but only as a cultural relic. also mark darcy is barely even in it?

I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy this or not, but in the end it was a nice and fun read. I read over half the book between last night and today and I can say that I really enjoyed it. Certain parts made me laugh like crazy, while others seemed a bit stale. Being a teenager made it less relatable than what most people get from this book, but some parts reined true even for me, and that made it all the more fun. I'm excited to start the sequel soon.
