How can you not love this book? What a courageous family and a well written book. I hope that one day the fighting is over and they can return to their homeland.

3.5 stars. I listened to this and regret it slightly, I'm definitely going to re-read this as a hardcopy. I thought this book did a great job of showing incite to what it was like growing up in Swat. I feel like there was so much information but yet not enough. That's partially why I would like to re-read it physically so I can research as I go. She is truly such an inspiration and this also showed how much having a positive and supportive upbringing can do. It still blows my mind the things that she was doing at age 10-11, not only for female rights and the rights to education, but also her interests. The fact that she read "A Brief History in Time" at 11 is so telling to how mature she was.

Informative, kind of slow-paced to begin, and not what I was expecting. I thought I would read more about Malala's many speeches, but they were only mentioned. History, language, religion, and culture were piled into 300 pages.

I wanted to like this book, I really did. I think Malala is amazing, her story is amazing, and I've loved her interviews and everything I've read about her before reading this book. This book read as an unfinished, rushed, half book/ weird thing that just wanted to get out there as quickly as possible. It didn't feel very authentic to the personality of Malala that I've seen in taped interviews. Basically, what I hope happens as Malala grows up that next time she writes a book all on her own and can show off her true side and what she's learned since this happened. Now, that's a book I want to read.

I really enjoyed reading this book: it’s truely authentic and inspirational and a much needed reminder on the importance of education world wide! Great to get a different perspective of life in Pakistan!

Incredible young woman, kiiinda boring book. Her descriptions of her personal life and events are fascinating, but there are long sections on Pakistani political history that just read like lists of names and dates. Some of it I was glued to, but I struggled to get through the drier bits. Still, she is an inspiration and I am grateful people like her exist in the world.
