I wasn’t sure how I felt about this book until the twist at the end revealed everything and the whole truth ti the mystery of summer 15. I think I need to re read it to fully see how it unfolded and the signs that they ended up with that fate the whole way through. Got a bit confusing at times of when the chapters were set, whether they were in summer 15 or summer 17. Loved the twist though. It’s the teenage version/equivalent to the sixth sense, but in book form

I think maybe I should read the books that I really want to read ASAP, because otherwise I wait too long and my expectations get really high.

Idk if that would really make a difference though.

Liked:
- Rich people and scandalous drama ? Yes please !!
- Nice quick read/pace that kept my interest
- Intriiiiiiigue, I was really curious the whole time.
- Gat

Disliked:
- The writing felt kinda cold and stoic.
- The phrase "Gat, my Gat."
- The ending surprised me, I didn't see it coming and looking back, a lot of little hints were spread out throughout the story; the two-year old clothing, Carrie's walks at night, the jumping off the cliff, the unanswered emails... BUT the twist is not something that's super "new" nowadays; I've read other books that had similar endings, so I can't say it really did much for me.
- And THE ENDING WAS SO DEPRESSING GAWD :( I was hoping the secret was going to be more scandalous than sad, like a murder attempt or something, but it wasn't the case.
- Sometimes I got confused about whether we were in the past or present.

Also, did Cady literally cut or not??

So, a good book but my problem is that I basically think of every possibility when reading mystery novels, so not much shocks me. Or maybe I've read too many YA novels of this genre. Plus as someone else wrote, when you are expecting a big twist, it's harder to be surprised by it.

Still an enjoyable and interesting summer read though, but I was hoping to love it. I gotta say, looking back it's pretty creepy and subtle how everyone on the island was seeing the ghosts though, and how the ghosts of the Liars tried to stop Cady from jumping off the cliff because that was how she tried to commit suicide the first time.

Initially I was a bit confused, like I wasn’t entirely following what was happening and then it started to come together and make a bit more sense. I’d just about worked it out when the reveal came & I was left feeling quite heartbroken about it. Overall I think it was well written and it gripped me enough to read in one day.

This never really gripped me—and unfortunately I recently read a book with a similar twist, so I wasn’t as shocked as I probably would’ve been. Not the book’s fault, but a bummer
