Started absolutely amazingly with great sifi biology world building and then turned for the silly and frustrating near the midpoint. Great concept, poor final execution.
This is thoroughly enjoyable horror tale about an alien plague that turns humans into homicidal maniacs and incubators for some pretty unpleasant "babies".
My family and I all read this little gem on holiday in Cyprus and we got very attached to poor old Perry and his struggles. "Perry is having another bad day" was the catchphrase for our whole holiday!
We are all hooked on the series now!

The most brilliant and disgusting use of chicken scissors I have ever heard.
It was ok. Blatant cliffhanger to try and get you to read the next in the trilogy, but I find I just don't care that much about how it continues. It took place mostly in Ann Arbor, MI (where I once lived and worked) so that was fun since Sigler seemed to actually know a bit about the town. Other than that, I was glad I picked it up at the library and didn't spend any money on it.

I really enjoyed reading this book - more than I thought I would. I don't often read horror fiction, but I was intrigued by the premis and decided to give it a try.
I actually listened to the podcast version, which was good, because the reader (who is also the author) warns about the mature subject matter, coarse language, and (in his words) LOTS, and LOTS of VIOLENCE! So the reader is forewarned, and should not be put off by these things.
I could easily visualize the characters and what they were going through. The story was a good sci-fi tale with interesting elements that kept my interest as I read through it. There was also an interesting back story of the relationship with the protagonist and his father that helped to carry the character forward.
The story did seem to end somewhat abruptly, setting up for the sequel, but this did not really detract from the overall enjoyment of the book. I look forward to reading/listening to the sequel, although I will probably take a break from the horror genre for a bit.

This has joined the list of books that make me pass out with the graphic descriptions of blood and injuries. And even with that, it pulled me in and made me pretty much obsessed with finding out what could possibly happen next.
