I am giving this 3 stars I felt that it started off strong but then flat lined and then built up again, lined again did a little bleep and it was like that through out the book but it never went back to the high it had at the start.

The book at the start was funny and made me wonder if drug addicts did think of some of these things. The book did have some funny parts through out but the first chapter in my eyes was the best. I understand the chapters but I just didn't feel right, I am not sure how to explain it. Maybe I was waiting or looking for the laughs I had at the start or the interest I had.

To me the 2nd chapter was the weakest to me, so I will say that was more the flat line in the book. There was other small flat lines but I can't remember the pages it seem to happen. But over all the other chapters were okay but never the high it had at the start.

I seriously almost gave up on this book. I was having a lot of trouble getting through it. Luckily I found an audio version with Carrie Fisher actually reading it... which helped immensely. Interesting enough she cut out a whole part at the beginning where Alex is giving his experience... which I find interesting. I wonder what else she cut out of the audio version? Hmm...

I liked the format of this and I liked Suzanne almost immediately, but I felt that the style of writing kept the reader deliberately at a distance from Suzanne's (and Alex's) emotions. Suzanne used humour and candour to deflect from any sincere feelings. This isn't necessarily a criticism, because I think that was deliberate and it was definitely interesting, but it did stop me from giving it 5 stars on a purely enjoyment level of things. I would have liked to see a crack--but maybe that in itself was the point, that even when you might see cracks in other people, this is Hollywood and things only go so far.

Good company for the damaged or fragile. Every bit as clever and honest as Ms. Fisher. Loved it. Can't wait to read more from her.
