Starting strong, I had high hopes for this one. Despite liking the storyline, the dialogue was choppy and forced. By the final quarter of the book, I was rolling my eyes. It just got to be a bit far fetched and corny. I’m still giving it 3 stars because the premise was decent even if the writing was a bit novice.

Too much going on at the end, it was very confusing

Spoilers of the thing I thought weren’t necessary:
- plane crash
- all the sa cases
- the extreme hate on the MMC
- the MMC getting accused of r*pe
- the MMC getting arrested
- the halfassed break up
- the MMC disappearing
- the head coach and the head media girl’s drama
- the coach abusing his wife
- the coach « kidnapping » the FMC on her own home
- FMC having a gun to her head

Most of what happened was about 50-70 pages near the end. It was very condensed

Love me some yummy hockey story.

This book was entertaining to say the least. The book pace at the beginning is slow but picks up. The event at the start of the book, was serious but the FMCs behavior is comical. Honestly the first couple of chapters that set the foundation of the story could have been written a bit better, and it gave off Rom-Com vibes but then it turned more dramatic about halfway through with less elements of humor. Additional writing critique is that there should have been stronger supporting characters. No FMC with her upbringing and kind heartedness doesn't have a friend that she confides into about what's going on. She has one friend she sees one time and never talks too which is unrealistic. She spent her entire childhood at that Hockey Stadium and was basically raised there, she should have better relationships and allies which should be seen throughout the story, but that doesn't really exist. I do give the author credit for the supporting character of the childhood family friend that the FMC's mom desperately wants her to get in a relationship with. The entire time he was mentioned I was like oh my he's basically Chuck Bass from Gossip Girl, and then the FMC literally tells him he makes her think of Chuck Bass, which was comical.

On a more positive note, The MCs character development throughout the story does improve, and there are some rather spicy moments that will keep you wanting more. Regarding the spice the amount of dirty talk from the MMC is hilarious and a bit much at times, but there are some spicy parts and fade to black moments, that will leave you a bit breathless and swooning. You will find a soft spot for the MMC as the story goes on, his development is the best in the story, and I wish the author would have put more effort into the makeup and background of the FMC so she can be a bit more lovable.

Overall, I would visit this book again on a rainy day. The events that come in the ladder half of the book really is the saving grace of this story and makes it interesting.
