Deeply silly and predictable, this contains a lot of images that the author clearly thought sounded really cool, and some very weird thoughts on women. I wasn't surprised to see in the afterword that this was her debut.

So uncomfortable. So amazing! I was in a constant state of unease and extreme interest! I couldn't stop reading! She has such a way with spinning a story that you honestly don't want to read because it makes you so uncomfortable but can't stop! How can people be so messed up?!? It's such an interesting story and I have no idea how she came up with this and write it in such a creepy way yet compelling way. There was not a single likable character in this story and I loved it.

The whole time I was reading this book, I was thinking, how did this even get published? 2.5 stars because the plot was interesting (until the end, when
everything was ruined by the twist
) and i felt that Flynn strongly developed an atmosphere in this novel so it was very immersive. This is my first Gillian Flynn read and I’m not sure if I’ll read anything else after this.

my first gillian flynn! i really enjoyed this book.
the first part is relatively slow, but i enjoyed the character study and writing style. the characters (including the narrator) are untrustworthy and made some questionable choices, but it was well written and kept me on my toes.
the final twist was slightly predictable, but i still enjoyed the conclusion. overall, a great first gillian flynn and i can’t wait to read more!
