I warn you now, this is a very disturbing book and should be read with that in mind. Never the less, I did like it. It does make me wonder though, and with no offense to the author, how does someone come up with a storyline like this?

This is the first review I have ever felt the need to do, so just bear with me.

Now, this book honestly confused me. I loved the relationship between Caleb and Olivia, as twisted and dark as it was. It made me excited to see what would happen next because their relationship was so abnormal that it kept me guessing. I thought that the darkness of this book was very real, and the gritty details were captivating, just as the title advertises.

However, if you pick up this book thinking that it will be just another Fifty Shades ripoff, your world will be shaken and you will wonder what ever made you think such a thing. This book is not a ripoff of any other novel, nor is it a light read that anyone will be able to pick up and read through. This book is terrifying and confusing on a basic human level that made me afraid to walk outside. I will never, ever go to Mexico, based on this book.

The romance between Caleb and Olivia, even though I loved it and its raw quality, was convoluted and a perverted version of a healthy relationship.
Spoiler Caleb kidnaps Olivia to train as a sex slave, sell to the man he hates above all others, and then forget about her after he kills the man. All the while, Olivia and Caleb are starting to have feelings for each other, but anytime Olivia tries to do something about it, Caleb shuts her down.
Caleb feels that his destructive anger, hatred, and need for vengeance are more important than trying to help Olivia recover herself and possibly starting a fresh life together.

This book enticed me with its passion and darkness, but also confused me with its perplexing dynamics between characters. I hope this helps someone to decide whether or not they should read it, but I will end this by saying that I did enjoy it and would not do anything differently, even if I'd have known what this story entails. Good luck and happy reading!

I struggled to find the words to review this book. The reality is it’s dark, will make you angry & feel a roller coaster of emotions. I still don’t know fully how it sits with me but the end left me captivated enough to continue the next book

I kept putting this one down to take a break. The story isn't bad I just felt it was drawn out.

I'm relatively new to erotic fiction. Have quickly become addicted. This is my first foray into darker not so HEA. I am conflicted in my reaction to Caleb. He does horrible things to Livvie, and I know I shouldn't like him, but I really do. Both characters are so broken and it breaks my heart for them. Can't wait to read #2. I'm on it today.

I like that it committed to the actual dark aspect

wtf. it was well written but
