This book is entertaining and extremely disturbing at the same time. Caleb is a sick, twisted kidnapper that gets turned by torturing Olivia, to the point that most of the time they're having sex she's usually crying and whimpering all the way through, he really tortures her in a way that is not sexy, just sickening.
This was a slow read for me but enjoyable. I did feel that the story finally picked up at the end of book 1 and glad that I knew ahead of time that it is a duet. The cliffhanger at the end is just cruel! Off to book 2.....
So I have been going down a rabbit hole of dark romance. And I think I have reached the bottom of the hole with this one. You might think to yourself "How bad could it be?" I am here to tell you that the content of this book is dark, and sinister af. This is not a romance, IMO. This is about very very twisted people, who have been abused, and hurt. This book is graphic and it crosses so many damn lines that I thought several times that I should just put the damned thing down and go back up the rabbit hole a bit to a more comfortable area. But this book is about human trafficking and I have to admit I was curious. This book is scary especially if you picture yourself in Livvies position, it is down right petrifying. This book should not be taken lightly, but it is a good story, and I love a well told story, even if the content is gruesome and despicable.
People often believed they were safer in the light, thinking monsters only came out at night.
But safety—like light—was a façade. Underneath, the whole world was drenched in darkness. Caleb knew that. He also knew the only way to truly be safer was to accept the dark, to walk in it with eyes wide open, to be a part of it
I decided not to give this book a rating because I don't think this subject matter should be given a rating. The content is hard but that's what the book is meant to be about. And it is a hard dose of reality knowing these things happen. This book comes with a warning and should not be taken lightly, but I would recommend it still, just be prepared.
But mostly, I wanted to cry for being so horribly, tragically, stupidly female.

Should I love Caleb or hate him...or both?! ahhh
I was not a fan of 'Captive in the Dark'. There were mistakes throughout; misspelled words, etc. I realize that sometimes authors do that on purpose, but this did not seem to be the case. Also, I didn't like the story in general.
Interesting book. I definitely liked this one better than Slave. Curious to see how it ends up, seeing that this one ended on a cliffhanger!
I am not going to lie but the plot was way out of my comfort zone. I would have enjoyed the plot if it was not so disturbing at so many levels.
This is "ducking" dark. Better review to come but I have to dive back into "More Shit My Dad Says" so I can wash a little more happiness into my soul.
