The Good Stuff

* Beautiful descriptions of the setting make you feel you are right at Michael's home in the middle of a blizzard. Author's talent really shines when she writes about the house, Michael's past, the landscape and the house. I could get lost in her descriptions of the scenery -- kept looking outside and hoped it would start snowing
* Love the scenes with the horses
* Interesting take on a Vampire love story
* Surprise ending wasn't what I expected and actually liked the ending
* A good beach read
* Liked the idea that the Vampire was an author
* Cover is beautiful
* Vamp has an awesome library!!!!

The Not so Good Stuff

* Way too mushy and romantic for my taste
* Felt like there was something missing, I have enjoyed Syrie's works before, but something about this one left me a little disappointed
* Honestly it just felt like it would have been better as a regular romance instead of a paranormal romance it probably would have worked better
* I just didn't buy that Nicole was all that tortured about what happened in her past
* Liked Michael but found Nicole to be rather stupid for a supposedly educated women
* I hated the scene with the poor mountain lions

Favorite Quotes/Passages

"I love children. I always have. They have so much energy and enthusiasm, and such a vivid sense of imagination. Don't you think? To them, the whole world is an exciting place full of wonders just waiting to be discovered."

What I Learned

* Lots of stuff about horses

Who should/shouldn't read

* Those who enjoy sad romantic love stories
* Those who enjoy paranormal romances might be a little disappointed in this one

I received this from in exchange for an honest review --Sorry Syrie if you read this, I have enjoyed your previous novels, but this one just didn't do it for me. Don't take it personal I just don't like the sappy romance (Not that it's a bad thing, just not my thing)

I read this book in 2 days purely because of it's easy to read nature. A very weak plot and lacking in character depth I found this a disappointing James book when all others have been brilliant. I think she should stick to what she is good at and stay away from generic and "faddy" vampire romance genre. Conflicting because I liked the idea of the story but don't feel it was fully developed into a long standing firm novel, more of a trashy and slightly cringey holiday read.

I LOVED this book but HATED the ending. Wow...this book sucked me in from the beginning. I started to fall in love with Michael as quick as Nicole was. I felt like I was a part of their love and relationship. Syrie James did an amazing job writing this book. I felt like I really knew them and when Michael and Nicole would fall more and more in love so did I. words can't describe how upset I was about the ending. I was crying hysterically and even now I feel depressed about the way it ended. It just wasn't a good ending at all and makes me wish I wouldn't have read it. However, the love between them made it worth reading. The fact that they don't end up together felt like a stab to my heart it just really hurts me that they go about living their everyday lives as though nothing happened. I feel like if this scenario played out in real life and I was Nicole, I could have never left. Not with a love that strong. I wish there was a sequel. Overall, a great great read of two people falling in love but expect a terrible upsetting ending.

This is actually a 4.5 star book for me. For a book with only two characters through the whole thing, I was so drawn in, I could not put the book down, and tried to find ways to keep reading. The author did a great job keeping the story and characters interesing without having to add any supporting characters to it. It is a very easy read, and some might say a bit cliche or predictable... but that is not the case. I can tell you that it defintely did not end up the way I thought it would, or even wanted it to. But the ending was perfect for this book. I really wish there was a sequel in the works, so I can see what happened to these two characters that I fell in love with, but alas, I will have to imagine what will happen in the future. And maybe that is better. Because then I would get the ending that I want. This is a must read.

I would give this one a 3.75. Wonderfully written. It is the story of a reclusive vampire who lives in a mountain top hide away and the woman who becomes snowbound there with him. I want this guy's house - especially the library and greenhouse! The author says in an after note that their story is not done. I certainly hope she means that!

I don't why this book was categorized as horror, I would consider it paranormal romance the way it went. Romance between two very unlikely people, that will make you laugh and cry. This book in my opinion is an adult more realistic version of twilight if you strand two rational adults in a cabin in a snow storm and one has a dark secret that they don't want the other to know. This book has one of the best paranormal couples I have ever read and that's saying alot. Their love and the way it shaped itself almost brought me to tears. And a slight spoiler. The ending would normally piss me off but I loved these two so much by then I admired them for the sacrifices they had to make. So if you have time to read about a real feeling paranormal couple give this book a try. Hopefully you won't be disappointed.
