didn't really think I'd read the rest but whatever... I'm kind of disappointed because there wasn't as much Rose/Lissa as in the first book, but at least we've got a little more Mia now.

I still love this book and this series but reading the second book distanced me from the endorphins of reading the first book again and I could be more reflective.

First the good:
despite the fact that I know that Mason died and I knew it was coming it still hit just as hard when it happened as it did when I was 11

Second the criticism (kinda):
pacing! I didn’t remember from reading the books the first time through (or maybe l just didn’t notice at the time) that all the action seems to be concentrated in the last small section of the book. For example in the first book with in the last 80 pages we get: the shopping trip, Rose breaking her ankle/Lissa healing it, the dance, the lust scene, Lisa’s kidnap and rescue, and Natalie turning strigoi. In this book in the last 60 pages we get Rose realising Mason, Eddie and Mia have gone to Spokane, her and Christian going after them, getting kidnapped, escaping, Masons death/Rose killing the strigoi. Obviously for me it’s not a deal breaker I’m still really enjoying the books.

On a final note:
I don’t remember Rose and Dimitri getting together before the fourth book. It was already standing on thin ice for the student/teacher and under age relationship but the sun is out and the ice has melted - but then again it very clearly is a product of its time and there was plenty if media aimed at teens at the time and later that romanticises student/teacher relationships.

Un deuxième tome court mais intense ! Que dire de cette saga, une saga de vampire que je trouve plaisante, agréable et addictive. Ce tome me confirme mon amour pour cette saga ! J'aime tellement le personnage de Rose et Dimitri

this was so much better than the first one! again rose is a fun character im worried what will happen with adrian in the future but i guess i will just have to wait and see.
ive read a lot of comments says rose is kind of a bitch for having such a huge ego but again thats the hard part of a narrator in first person, making them describe themselves without sounding like that is the worst and the reason why i hated sookie stackhouse from true blood so much.

The thing about the Vampire Academy books is that they’re so entertaining but so predictable.

For example- immediately after Isaiah or whatever his name is told them that someone can be uncuffed to kill one of the guardians, I KNEW Rose would get Christian to free her so they could escape. I KNEW it, and was still entertained. I also guessed that Adrien had spirit and that Mason would die. But here I am, giving it a four star review anyways.

(Yes I know that me bragging about guessing the plot twists is really unnecessary and cocky and sounds really fake, but I just wanted to put that out there.)

this is a reread. also let me just say im so sad they didnt continue w the movies and even tho i didnt finish the show bc it was like nothing like the book and the book is better than both it still deserved another season. like if i hadnt read the book i would think the show was so good.

plot: in this one basically there are more strigoi attacks and they have to go on a ski trip and then mason (rip) decides he wants to be a hero so rose like goes to stop them but then they get into a strigoi attack and are like held hostage. and yeah. rose gets her first strigoi kill.

rose: i will never say anything abt this girl.

dimitri: love him sm

other characters:

liked: to add to previous i will say mia (she redeemed herself) and tasha. OH AND CHRISTIAN.

hated: like idek the strigoi ig. lowkey rose's mom

romance: so basically dimitiri and rose were fighting in this one bc of tasha and how tasha and dimtiri might get married bc it makes sense but like u can tell he doesnt want that and theres lowkey angst and i rlly fucked w it. and then at the end of the book we got sm more of them which i love. rose was like dating mason (rip) in this one which like i ship a little but theyre def better as friends also um he died so. and christian and lissa are so cute.

this is prob my 3rd fav in the series.
