I was surprised that I didn't like this more than I did, I love Blair Witch, spooky forest, missing people stories so I really thought that this would be my style but it wasn't. I think I like stories like this when they are longer, I wanted more creepy forest tension. So I don't think the story itself was bad at all, I guess I think it would be better as a longer story. Short stories need to get to the point quickly, which is inevitable but I just think that didn't do this any favours.
Omg. This had my heart beating out of my chest! Josh Malerman knows how to write an intense horror! Brilliant take on folk horror

This was my favorite of the creature feature shorts so far! I loved the atmosphere of the UNF and always love a 'lost in the woods' book, double bonus: the Opso is out there searching for a face.
I listened to this in audio as a gym book and the narrator did an amazing job with the creepy voice of the Opso. The last 1/3 was so fast paced I had to keep upping my sped on the treadmill to keep up.
Highly recommend if you are looking for a quick scare. I did wish one thing about the ending was different (or maybe just more fleshed out - spoiler -) but the story was focused just on the two sisters, who are teenagers, so I guess they are rather single-minded so I can let it go.

I wish they had mentioned if they did more to try to help the other lost girl
Amazing Story
I read this in one sitting. I ate 3 fingernails. The story starts and ends with such energy. I even got a bit scared out loud. Good stuff.
