Ella and Carson's story is amazing. What started out as a way for Carson to get out of a marriage he didn't want to end up in and a way to save his father's legacy turned into so much more. Carson first met Ella six months prior at a friend's 30th birthday and she made quite an impression on him. Ella was surprised when he called her and ask if she could help him out. They live on seperate coasts and know that things will be hard for them, what they don't expect is how hard their feelings for each other will hit.

I have loved each of the misadventure books but this was one of my favorites so far.

Light-hearted romance with a lot of vanilla spice.

Bit weirded out by engaged people sleeping with others (+ making out in public) before bothering to break off the engagement. Played heavy on the whole "rich manipulative/blackmailing business man" and the whole misogynistic "of course the females aren't regarded as business leader/CEO material" tropes. Otherwise an OK piece of romantic fluff.

Funny, sexy, romantic and a great story! Shayla Black always delivers the romantic goods along with hot sexy times and she does not disappoint with this one!

Carson Frost isn't overjoyed with having to marry his competitor's daughter but that's the terms of a loan Carson feels he has to accept from the man when no other viable loan options are available. In steps Ella Hope who he's hired to play his fake love interest...but is it fake? Ella may not be putting on an act - their intimacy doesn't feel fake...

Great premise with an interesting twist. There is more to this story than just the idea of Carson hiring someone to stand in as a fake love interest to avoid marrying his competitor's daughter. We really get to know Carson and Ella - yes they have fantastic chemistry but they also want to learn more about each other and what each other wants in life. We also get to see how each treats others around them which further endears them to the reader (avoiding a spoiler here!). But when the time comes, does Ella's old hurts keep her from taking that final step with Carson?

A wonderfully romantic story - do not miss this!

Thank you NetGalley and Waterhouse Press for an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was another weird one.

Misadventures of a Backup Bride was so strange. In it, a dad is basically offering his kid up for marriage to anyone that has a pulse. I have no idea how Carson and Ella sat there with a straight face while her dad was bargaining with him about this. Yet, they somehow did.

Little did we know, that it wasn't a hard decision to make. They met previously but weren't available at the time. It didn't hurt that sparks were flying that one night because they easily crept up again. Other than that, it was hilarious that they even tried to bottle up their feelings for one another. It was bound to come out - and boy did it.

These two had crazy chemistry. Yet, I was waiting for the other shoe to drop. Luckily for me, and them, they found a way to work things out.

Carson needs to find a fake bride to get a competitor off his back while still getting necessary money to keep his business afloat. Hiring actress Ella to be that fake bride actually backfires on him when the chemistry between the two is explosive. Falling in love was never in the cards, but can Carson make the deal of a lifetime and win the girl and keep the business. This was a cute read with great characters and a surprise ending. It was an enjoyable read that I highly recommend.

I loved this book! I have to say this one was my favorite so far. I was hooked from the first page. I instantly fell in love with both Ella and Carson.

Carson is soon going to marry a woman that he doesn’t love in order to get her father to help out with his company. ( before you judge, she isn’t in love with him either). Weeks before the wedding he knows that cannot marry her. So he lies and says that he is already in love with someone else. The dad calls him on his bluff and says that he wants to meet the girl who he so called loves and if he can prove it then he will let him out marrying his daughter and still give him the help for his company. He ends up calling Ella, a girl who is also an actress he met at a wedding a few months back to help him get out marrying his daughter.

The chemistry between these two was magnetic. It’s like it jumped off the page and zapped you. Even though it was basically insta lust, I don’t care. I was rooting for them like no other. All I wanted was a way for this to work and just a HEA.

If your looking for something that’s hot, sexy, and will leave you smiling like an idiot once you are done then pick this up book up!

Oooooh myyyy!! *insert blush here*

Such a great, fast read! I adored Ella and Carson. Their chemistry was strong, hypnotic, intoxicating... just everything one would expect from this author. I wasn’t sure in the beginning about this story, but I’m happy that I did.

Plenty of smut to get a girl through the “cold” times. *wink wink* I loved the attention to detail and seeing that the characters in their own way had conflicts of the heart. It’s a hard battle when the heart and the head want opposing things.

It makes a girl question herself and how she would handle this dilemma. Which would you listen to in this instance: the sound of your heart screaming in ecstasy for romance, affection, and the freedom to love?

Or the stubbornness of your brain telling you not to risk anything?

I think the choice is veeeery obvious... ;-) As without risk, there is no reward.

Nando’s Spice Rating: Medium

I just expected more from this book. It was super short but I just don’t feel like it delivered enough plot.
