As Time Goes by by Mary Higgins Clark

My feelings about the book were kind of lukewarm, but I was ultimately satisfied with how it all came together. As Time Goes By is primarily a courtroom drama, and has a bit of a slower pace than I've come to expect from mystery and suspense. It does pick up a bit toward the end as new evidence comes to light at the eleventh hour before Betsy is sentenced. My favorite thing about the book was the way that three separate investigations all came together into one big denouement at the end, although their mere juxtaposition made some of the solutions a little predictable. There was also a fair amount of romance in the story, which usually I enjoy, but I didn't quite buy it in this case. Having Delaney enter a relationship with another investigative journalist was a great way to tie their two investigations together, but his sporadic declarations of love at first sight seemed a bit over the top for me.

I read this randomly, but it was pretty good.

I really enjoyed this book, the narrator was very good and it was pretty easy to distinguish the different characters. The mystery, I figured it out fairly quickly, but the build up to when everybody would figure out, yeah, that was very entertaining!

Book #63 read in 2016

A little slow to start, but enjoyable.

A very quick read...but I knew pretty much how it would end by about 75 pages in...still a good story that I read to the end to see HOW it played out but not a lot of surprises. A lot of threads that were kind of "eh...okay..." and fully developed. But if you want something light, something quick, something easy to breeze through on a summer day...this works

I’m not sure if it was the writing or the audiobook narration, but it felt like someone trying really hard to fit in by showing they know the cool lingo, except the lingo is just common English words and phrases, over emphasized in strange ways. I’d think that maybe they were going for intentionally cheesy melodrama, except that it wasn’t consistent. And what should’ve been the most dramatic parts – all the “big reveals” (which were entirely predictable) – were delivered in such a nonchalant manner, you could almost miss them.

Not the worst book I’ve ever read, by a long shot, but I could take or leave it. By way of MHC, this one was lackluster but even her lackluster is some authors best work.

A little predictable on the who-dunnit, but still a good read.
